Eddie Lemont Moore was born on January 22, 1977 in Allendale, South Carolina.  He was the son of the late Eddie Lee Moore and Albertha Moore.  Eddie was baptized August 17, 1990 at the Virgin Mary Baptist Church in Allendale, SC.  He departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Eddie was educated in the public schools of Allendale, SC and graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High School, Class of 1995.  After graduating high school, Eddie enlisted in the Marines and served 6 years in the Reserves.  While serving in the Marine Corps, Eddie enrolled in Midlands Technical College, and received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences.  He then transferred to the University of South Carolina where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in May 2001.  Before he graduated Eddie had already identified his passion in life – making a difference in the lives of young people.

Eddie’s passion for serving the youth led him to the Columbia Urban League where he served as a counselor, coordinator, and role model.  His signature project was the Youth Summer Job Program.  Under his watch over 2500 kids received employment.  In 2006, he continued serving the youth at the Olympia Learning Center as a Career Specialist.  His passion in this capacity was to intertwine the professional community with student career opportunities.  He ensured that his students were knowledgeable and equipped with proper etiquette for the workplace and abroad.  Not only did he teach them to take pride in their education but also in their appearance and mannerisms.

Eddie was a dedicated member of the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Incorporated.  He exemplified all virtues and precepts of an Omega Man.  Eddie was an example of what the founders intended Omega to be and he will continue to be a beacon and inspiration to all brothers that will succeed him.

The Eddie Moore Foundation, Inc. (EMF) is a non profit organization established in 2009 to commemorate the memory and legacy of Eddie Lemont Moore.  Eddie’s passion and life was dedicated to serving the youth.  EMF will be an extension of his mission by funding scholarship programs.  EMF is a leadership initiative that will sponsor mentorship/tutoring programs.  EMF is also a health awareness initiative focused on overall fitness, stroke prevention, and organ donation.
